St George swimming pool splash

When it comes to summer gathering spots in the area, it seems swimming pools like the St George swimming pool are an obvious choice.

Although there are several public locations to splash and play in the water, you don’t want to overlook the St George swimming pool.

St George swimming pool highlights

Probably the most obvious highlight of the St George swimming pool is the hydro tube slide. Its viewable as you drive by 700 South in St. George. And when you’re sitting at any of the football or soccer games at the Dixie High School Flyer Field, you can see the hydro tube from there.

The St George swimming pool hydro tube is an enclosed water slide that is dark inside. This is a change in the last couple of years. The slide was already enclosed, but with a slightly translucent blue exterior that let in the outside light. A couple of years ago, however, the slide was painted to block out the light and is kept dark inside with just a few scattered pinholes of light.

According to the St. George City web site, the enclosed water slide is known as the Hydro Abyss. It is a 330 feet long.

Many people love the new darker hydro tube slide at the St George swimming pool. Some find it a little claustrophobic or scary. But for the most part, it’s been a big hit.

Other higlights of the St George swimming pool include the two diving boards, the kiddie pool area, barbecue area and large swimming pool.

The cost of fun

There is often some confusion about who owns and operates the St George swimming pool because of its close proximity to Dixie High School. However, it is not the school’s pool. It is a city pool to be enjoyed by anyone who wishes to swim.

The cost varies depending on whether you choose to include the water slide as a part of your splash day.

The pool admission itself is $2 for children ages 13 and younger, $3 for anyone 14 and older. You can purchase hydro tube slide rides individually for 50 cents each. Or you can have unlimited rides for $2.50 per person, in addition to the pool admission.

Season passes are also available for families and individuals ranging from $25 to $260.

You can also tap into the Tri-Pack pass which gives annual membership to the St. George Recreation Center, the St George swimming pool and hydro tube and the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center. These run $240 for individuals and $425 for families.
