If you’re looking for Gunlock Utah homes for sale, please scroll to the bottom of this page. You should know, however, that you won’t find many homes listed in Gunlock. The reason for this is two-fold. First, with a population of less than 400 people, there simply aren’t that many homes to begin with. Second, Gunlock happens to be a wonderful place to live, so people tend to stay put and pass their homes on to their progeny.
Gunlock Utah is an unincorporated community 22 miles northwest of St. George. Oddly enough, however, it has a post office and its own zip code.
Gunlock is known for Gunlock State Park, which consists mainly of Gunlock Resevoir. Because the elevation is just 3,600 ft. the park allows for year-round enjoyment. The resevoir allows for camping, boating, waterskiing, and catfish and bass fishing. The Gunlock Resevoir Dam was constructed in 1970 for the purposes of irrigation water and flood control.
The Gunlock Rodeo, established in 1945 by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is a very popular annual event that takes place during the week of July 4th. The rodeo features competition calf roping, breakaway roping and barrel racing as well as other fun events such as the Chicken Chase, which gives young children the opportunity to chase after and catch the crazy birds. The children can keep them or sell them back to the rodeo.
