Santa Clara is a darling little town that lies between the cities of St. George and Ivins. With the Santa Clara River to the south, the red sandstone cliffs of Snow Canyon to the north and ancient black basalt lava flows running down its center, Santa Clara is certainly not lacking in gorgeous scenery.

Santa Clara Utah was founded in 1854 by Jacob Hamblin. His home has been preserved by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints along with other historical buildings such as the old Relief Society house. The town was primarily inhabited by Mormon immigrants from Switzerland, and its Swiss heritage is evident to this day.

In fact, Swiss Days is a major event that takes place in Santa Clara every year. It includes a 5 kilometer run, pancake breakfast, children’s games, dog agility demonstrations, Swiss pioneer displays and, of course, the Swiss Days Parade, which is made up of homemade floats, antique cars, local businesses, marching bands and live animals.

Visitors instantly fall in love with the City when driving down Santa Clara Drive, which runs through its quaint downtown. Large, mature trees line the street along with various historical homes, farmers’ markets, government buildings, privately-owned restaurants and other small businesses. The City recently completed $10 million in renovations to its downtown area.

Santa Clara Utah is in close proximity to Snow Canyon State Park and other beautiful landscapes that are perfect for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing or weekend picnicking. It’s also just a few minutes away from the world class Tuacahn Amphitheatre, which features Broadway and Disney musicals as well as various bands, dance companies and other popular shows.

Technically, Santa Clara is largely a residential community with a few local restaurants and other small businesses. However, it is seamlessly connected to St. George Utah, which offers big box stores, chain restaurants and hundreds of storefronts for shopping.
