Veyo Utah Pool
Approximately 17 miles north of St. George Utah, in Veyo Utah, the natural springs Veyo Pool and Crawdad Canyon Rock Climbing Park offer cooler weather and fun. This resort is located along the Santa Clara River in a small yet steep basalt canyon. The Veyo Pool is filled by a natural hot spring that flows from the canyon wall. The water in the Veyo Pool has a temperature of about 89 degrees. Those that work at the pool say it is emptied every night. The pool is roped off in the shallow portion for younger children to play. The deep end reaches seven feet where jumping is allowed and more advanced swimmers can swim. You are welcome to bring all the food you want. They have picnic areas with BBQ grills upon request. There are designated areas for campfires. Otherwise, there is a restaurant/snack bar at the pool. The menu consists of burgers, hot dogs, drinks and ice cream.
Crawdad Canyon Rock Climbing Park
This is one of the largest privately owned outdoor climbing parks in the USA. It offers 180 bolted sport climbing routes up to 80 feet high. There are brass plaques at the base of each climb. Benches are in some places to belay from and there are paths to the climbs. Great activity during the summer as the weather is cooler here than in St. George. With beautiful scenery and a pool to cool off in afterwards. Be sure to put this climbing park on your must do list.

Veyo Utah Pies
About 29 years ago when Evelyn Daniels owned the “Veyo Merc” with her husband Larry, she began to make pies as a way to bring more customers into their store. It worked so well it became too much for her, so she hired Evalyn Yaw. Evalyn took over the pie baking business with her own recipes and she is referred to as the best pie maker in the world. She also started the bakery at the old shop after Mark and Joan Jensen took over ownership in 1995. Joan Jensen’s biggest pride of their business was the delicious and successful pie business. Evalyn Yaw trained Joan and continued working in the bakery when able for ten years. Devaney Lomenick, trained with Evalyn Yaw 14 years ago. Devaney took over management in 2006. In 2008, the pies made at the shop, with the help of Devaney and her crew: Saber Cape, Jillian Bardsley, Cassie Clucas and Rayna Lang won the title “Best Pies in Utah 2008” by Salt Lake Magazine. After the old shop shut down in 2008, being a piece of Veyo History for 50 years, Veyo Pies opened. The pie tradition in Veyo Utah is being carried on.
