Cliffside Restaurant St George above the rest

It’s a full dining experience when you step out for a night on the town that includes a meal at Cliffside Restaurant St George.

Sure, you might be thinking, food is food. Or maybe you do recognize just how important quality food is to a fantastic meal but you think such quality will override even the dreariest of settings. But you’d be wrong. A meal at Cliffside Restaurant St George incorporates all the important aspects of the dining experience. Quality food. Aesthetic appeal. Beautiful surroundings. Excellent service. The whole enchilada… without the enchilada. But what else would you expect from a restaurant that has been voted Best of State two years in a row? Along with being singled out for being the “best patio dining in Southern Utah” and “Best New Restaurant in Southern Utah” in 2014.

Cliffside Restaurant St George | The food

One thing that sets Cliffside Restaurant St George above its competition, is the fact that the food doesn’t just taste good — it looks pretty too. The old adage that you eat with your eyes before you ever eat with your mouth is absolutely true. And when a dish at Cliffside Restaurant St George arrives looking like a work of art, your taste buds are even more likely to be on board.

After several experiences at this popular Southern Utah restaurant, a few dishes stand out. Like the chicken fried chicken.

This fancy take on a classic comfort food is a great example of the kind of aesthetic artwork to which I’m referring. Rather than a slab of greasy chicken and a spoonful of mashed potatoes plopped on the side, Cliffside Restaurant St George shows diners another way. A bed of creamy, rich mashed potatoes, accented with cooked-to-perfection broccolini is topped with two juicy chicken fried chicken pieces. The gravy ladled artfully over the top serves as an artistic accent, as well as a savory enhancement for the meal.

Other options

Lest you think Cliffside Restaurant St George is a one-trick pony, never fear. There are several other equally beautiful, equally delicious meals. Even the more casual burger and fries makes a statement as the waiter balances this towering version of the American classic on the plate to your table. Eating it requires equal panache. After all, this Farm Burger, as it is called, heaps 8-ounces of beef, melted white cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, grilled ham, over easy egg and fried onions between two buns. Try fitting that in your mouth gracefully. I dare you.

As an aside, the shoestring French fries are seasoned and cooked to perfection. And the fry sauce… amazing. Which is high praise coming from someone who typically turns their nose up at this generally overly-hyped condiment.

The rest of the menu includes some other must-try classics, like the macaroni and cheese, braised pork shank, chili-glazed salmon, butternut squash soup and more.

Salads are a great option as well.

Don’t forget dessert

When it comes to finishing on a sweet note, Cliffside Restaurant St George has you covered there too. For the chocolate lover, the Cliffside Molten Cake is baked to order and ready with warm, chocolate filled center, vanilla ice cream and berries on top. Or, if you’re not of the chocolate persuasion, you might prefer the Vanilla Bean Brulee, a classic crème brulee with a crisp cookie and fresh berries. For me, the Warm Chocolate Chunk Cookie Skillet hit the spot. A freshly baked chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla bean ice cream, caramel sauce and fresh berries. Yum!

The View

Even where other restaurants might compare taste-wise, Cliffside Restaurant St George has an ace up its sleeve that literally puts it above the rest. Location, location, location.

The view is great

Filling the space that was once Rococo’s up by the old St. George Airport, Cliffside Restaurant St George has a view that is unparalleled. And it takes full advantage of its cliff side perch.

Windows run the length of the dining area, offering ample seating with exquisite views of this beautiful Southern Utah town. Or, if you prefer to dine outside, the patio is a space that is an even less obstructed view. When it’s not too hot, of course.

Not surprising there are plenty of people wanting to live in an area with such great dining options. But luckily, there are plenty of great home listings in store for you. Check out some of them here.
