Hidden gem | Highland Park Washington City

There’s a hidden gem among the many parks in the area — Highland Park Washington City.

If you haven’t visited Highland Park Washington City, it’s time you did. Though I’m hesitant to publicize this great place. After all, part of the appeal is the fact that Highland Park Washington City is not overcrowded. Last week, we practically had the place to ourselves.

Highlights of Highland Park Washington City

Located off the north end of Telegraph Street, Highland Park Washington City has a wide range of amenities. But it is truly the views that make the top of the list.

Set on a hill overlooking the Coral Canyon subdivision, Highland Park Washington City offers 360-degree views of the greater-St. George area. Every idyllic vantage point; every breathtaking vista. It’s almost unreal.

How we found it

We visited Highland Park Washington City almost by accident. I was searching for a park outside of our usual path. Somewhere to escape for the afternoon. I’ve visited Green Springs Park in Washington City before and thought we’d go that route again. But when I Googled Green Springs Park, several hits for Highland Park Washington City came up.

And I’m happy they did.

Sprawling grass hills, a biking/walking path, several playground areas, multiple covered picnic tables, the list of amenities goes on and on.

Events at Highland Park Washington City

Although the population was sparse during our visit, as we wrapped up an afternoon of fun, things were starting to pick up. A neighborhood party was just kicking off at Highland Park Washington City. Thanks to the large pavilion, with electricity running, this neighborhood party included live music. A folk/western band calling themselves Bar None.

Other community events at Highland Park Washington City include family reunions, community events, an annual March of Dimes walk-a-thon and more. It recently served as one point on the St. George Half Marathon route.

Positive response

Some of the positive comments regarding Highland Park Washington City include praise for the separate playing areas for different age children. The areas are distinct — both in location and in skill ability. However, they are located closely enough to one another it is relatively easy to keep track of children in the separate spots.

Plus, since there weren’t many other children, our group was able to swap back and forth, with older kids enjoying some of the “younger child” attractions and vice versa.

The bathrooms are in close proximity to the other amenities. Which is always nice. They appear to be well maintained, as noted in another praise comment from an online review of Highland Park Washington City.

In addition to the rolling hills of green and the clean restroom facilities, Highland Park Washington City offers a trail system. Taking a stroll up the trail reveals even better views of the valley below. Then, once you reach the precipice, you realize there is even more park to enjoy a the top of the hill. More grass. Plenty of trees. And even more views.

What you can see

From the top you can see the following landmarks:

* Coral Canyon Golf Course

* Zion National Park

* Sand Hollow State Park

* Pine Valley Mountain

It’s remarkable the Coral Canyon development set aside such prime real estate for the park. But once you visit, you will be so grateful they did.
