Boyé background

For those who don’t know about Alex Boyé, this British-American singer, actor and YouTube star was named Hard Rock’s 2017 Rising Artist of the Year, according to his bio. His special brand of “Africanized” pop music is infused with “explosive rhythms” and “various languages of his ancestral continent.” All of which combined with his palpable enthusiasm on stage and his passionate performances online have earned him nearly 1 billion YouTube views. He has also been featured on Good Morning America, Jimmy Kimmel Live and more.

But there’s even more Alex Boyé St George wants to do.

A Million Dreams | Alex Boyé St George

Taking hold of the music and the message behind the uber-popular film “The Greatest Showman,” Alex Boyé is bringing one particular song to life. And he’s bringing it home for Alex Boyé St George fans.

In a YouTube video, Alex Boyé puts his own spin on “A Million Dreams” from “The Greatest Showman.” But he doesn’t do it alone. Joined by a 200-person children’s choir, a full orchestra, African-style drummers, dancers and various scenes from the Southern Utah landscape, Alex Boyé St George calls this the “biggest project” he has ever done.

Featuring backdrops such as Snow Canyon State Park, the “Dixie Rock” (also known as the Sugarloaf), and Sand Hollow Resort, Alex Boyé St George fulfills some of his “Millions Dreams.” Rumor has it, one of those is flying in a hot air balloon.

“When it’s all said and done, there will be about 500 people who participated in the music video at about 15 different locations across Southern Utah,” Jordan Sharp, chief marketing and communication officer for Dixie State University, says in an interview with St. George News.

Oh yeah, that’s another major piece to the puzzle. Having Dixie State University involved.

Dixie State University on board

To assist with the logistics, as well as the promotion of this project, Alex Boyé St George teamed up with the marketing department at Dixie State University. Both sides of the partnership are very excited.

“It will be the best Alex Boyé video to date,” Sharp says.

The key, according to Alex Boyé St George, is the collaboration between professionals and amateurs, students and stars.

“I love … how the students are being highlighted,” Boyé says.

The entire project took about six days to shoot. Alex Boyé St George stayed in the area a week, shooting the film and putting on a couple of concerts along the way.

He performed at the annual Dixie Foundation Fire & Ice Gala to raise money for needs-based scholarships. Then he put on a concert for the public in the Burns Arena. This time, he featured some of the elementary and college students who performed with him during the video.

Fan frenzy

During the concert Alex Boyé St George said he hoped everyone would “share the crap out of this video” in order to make it go viral.

Now, the day is nearly here. Alex Boyé St George “A Million Dreams” YouTube video will premier with a special event at Dixie State University at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 5. Anyone wishing to participate can go to the Cox Auditorium to see the film air for the first time. Then, of course, you can see it again and again online.

Overall, Alex Boyé St George says he knows Dixie State is already on the map. However, he’s hoping this project will “blow it up”. He loves the area. And he told concert-goers back in March, he is desperately trying to get his wife to move here.

Would you love to live in an area with such strong community support and such appeal? Of course! And we know which homes are right for you. Check out listings here to see how your life could be if you were living your dream in Southern Utah too.
