If you haven’t been to Sand Hollow Aquatic Center recently, you are missing out.
Sure, outdoor temps are still in the triple digits, so the outdoor pools are still all the rage. But sometimes you just need something that is away from the sun. But still wet. Like Sand Hollow Aquatic Center.
Sand Hollow Aquatic Center
More than just an indoor pool, this is a full-on water park style experience. Decorated in a jungle theme, kids and adults can enjoy the balmy, exotic aura of Sand Hollow Aquatic Center.
Upon entering the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center you’re likely to first notice the hydro slide. This open air slide is a nice option compared to the enclosed space of a full traditional hydro tube. It’s a little more conducive to younger riders who might be afraid of taking those twists and turns in the dark. Plus it’s not so steamy inside the slide. But you still get to enjoy the whoosh of the water sending you up and down and around the curves of this blue slide.
Surrounding this main attraction there are several other play areas to consider. Kids seem to love the challenge of trying to cross one swimming pool while holding on to ropes and attempting to balnce of the back of a floating alligator. Or, make your way around to the kids area where there is a toddler-size slide. The slide is extra fun because they get to slide out of the mouth of the frog.
The kids area also includes several waterfalls, fountains, water guns and other toys.
SHAC events
Regular swimming at Sand Hollow Aquatic Center is open Monday through Thursday from 1-5 p.m. and 6:30 to 9 p.m. as well as Fridays from 1-9 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 9 p.m. If you’re interested in lap swimming, you can enjoy one of Sand Hollow Aquatic Center lap pools Mondays through Fridays from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Birthday parties
Sand Hollow Aquatic Center is a popular place for birthdays. You can have a basic Splash Party for only $65. This includes up to 12 children ($5 extra for each additional child). They each get a hot food item and small drink, party favor sack with toys and candy, plus 2-hour lobby reservation. And of course swimming entrance.
The lobby reservation is ideal because it allows adults to supervise the swimming inside Sand Hollow Aquatic Center, without having to sit in the room with the steam and the noise.

Summer events
During the summer, Sand Hollow Aquatic Center offers youth camps and swimming lessons. Swimming lessons also continue year round. There are classes for beginner through advanced students and follows the American Red Cross guidelines.
Other events
Other Sand Hollow Aquatic Center events include water aerobics classes, a U.S. Masters Swimming group and more.
